Introducing Patri Friedman, the newest addition to the Applicant Auction team

After last week's successful auction, we have received enormous interest from applicants about participating in future auctions. Our team is thrilled to see such a positive response from the community, and we're growing our team to support the increased demand for clear, transparent auctions.

Today, we're excited to announce that Patri Friedman is joining us as the 11th member of our team. He will initially be in charge of the auction user experience and documentation, as well as managing our tools for streamlining and scaling the auction qualification and settlement process.

Patri was formerly a software engineer at Google, where he worked on the world's largest continuous auction under Chief Economist Hal Varian.  He is excited about the intersection of economic theory and practice that auctions represent, and their potential to equitably allocate scarce resources.

Most recently, Patri was executive director of the Seasteading institute, where his social entrepreneurship was featured in media ranging from The Economist to CBS Sunday Morning to Forbes "Names You Need To Know."  He lives in Berkeley, California, with his partner Brit and his children Tovar & Iselle. His hobbies include political activism and high-stakes poker.
